I am banning the phrase, “Work smarter, not harder.”
Here are the reasons why:
First: Please do not tell me what to do or how to do it. Stop spouting nonsense.
Second: It’s a Trap. This is a marketing message that sets you up to believe whatever BS is coming next. Really Stop and think about who you have been listening to… Time to change the channel?
Third: It’s not possible to work smarter, unless you hire other brains to help you. We come to the problem as ‘smart’ as we are going to be, based on our history, based on the context of the situation.
Fourth: Get over not having to work hard. If you can’t or won’t work hard, step aside. Nothing to see here. Go back to the back of the line. Show me someone who is successful that doesn’t outwork everyone you know… I dare ya.
Fifth: The only way I have ever found to increase my performance or success is to hire a coach. We have coaches and teachers all through school. We get to 21 years old and suddenly we are the Einstein of every situation.
Sixth: One does not learn to walk, drive, make money in a vacuum. What do you want, to step out on the mountain for the first time, strap on a snowboard and take off, to your likely death? Or do you stop in and get a lesson from the cute snowboard instructor, save breaking a rib or worse? Find the right teacher, for the right job.
Sixth: Finding a coach isn’t all about finding the person who is going to be able to tell you how to execute every little step in your journey. What you want is someone who can take you up as many rungs as you can jump in the success ladder to show what’s possible. Again, you want a belief and strategy coach, based on the coaches accomplishments. You want someone who is on or above the level you want to achieve.
Seventh: Focus. I am good and bad at this. I have been able to focus in one direction since 2013. I also try lots of different ways to do what I do, which some people see as a negative. I see growth as imperative. I didn’t come here to do the same thing over and over until death.
Eight: Genius is a mix of brains, intuition, unfair advantages, situation, and risk. Keep trying. Keep finding women who back you up.
